Maja has led innovation and entrepreneurship teams at the World Bank for the last decade, focusing on improving R&D and startup capabilities in client countries in Africa and Europe. Her experience includes building an NLP company during the dot-com bust, advising UN members on the links between sustainability and digital technology, and fundraising. Over her career, she has led raises totaling over $1B, mostly of impact capital, from institutional and private investors. Maja holds a PhD from the University of Oxford on entrepreneurship ecosystems, an LLM from the University of Kent on Internet governance and a B.Comm from Queen’s University.
