He was born on May 7, 1969 in Belgrade and he is an economics graduate. Since April 2014, he serves as the Minister of Mining and Energy in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

From September 2013 to April 2014 he was the Minister of Transport in the Government of the Republic of Serbia. He has many years of work experience in public administration,and of being in charge of large infrastructure projects and public utility systems.

From 1992 to 2013 he was a councillor in the Assembly of Zvezdara Municipality, for two terms, and was three times elected a councillor in the Assembly of the City of Belgrade. From 2004 to 2008, he served as the chairman ofSPS Councillor Group in theBelgrade City Assembly.

He held the office of the President of Belgrade City Assembly in two terms, from December 2008 to May 2012 and from June 2012 until September 2013, when he was appointed a minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

He was the chairman of the Assembly of the company "JAT Tehnika" from November 2008 to September 2013 and was a member of the Board of Directors of JAT Airways from July 2005 to November 2007.

In the parliamentary elections of 2012 he was elected a deputy in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. As an MP, he was a member of the Committee on Defence and Internal Affairs, European Integration Committee and a member of the Parliamentary delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE. Since September 2013, when he was appointed Minister of Transport, he has served as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia.

Based on the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia he was appointed the National Coordinator of the Republic of Serbia in the mechanism of cooperation between the People's Republic of China and Central and Eastern Europe (CIEZ).

In March 2015, based on the Conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, he was appointed the chairman of the Serbian part of the Joint Commission of the Republic of Serbia and Romania for Economic Cooperation.

He is a member of the Board of the Development Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

He is vice president of the SPS political party in Belgrade.

He was awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of the Second Degree by the Russian Patriarch Kirill.

He has a son, Andrej.
