BAJEC Jurij

Jurij Bajec, Ph.D. is a special advisor at the Economics Institute and a full professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade.

Jurij Bajec was elected an assistant at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade in 1969 and  became a full professor in 1989. He was on vocational training in England (in 1977 and in the period 1979-1980) at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex as a research associate at the Economic Development  Programme. In 1984 he visited the United States university centres and departments of comparative economic systems.

Prof Bajec has been teaching Contemporary economic systems since 1969 and Economics of the public sector since 2002. He also lectured at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, Faculty of Economics and Law in Novi Sad and Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Within post-graduate studies he lectured: Public sector management,  Economic development  and Competiveness Policy. Prof Bajec is a member of Presidency of the Serbian Association of Economists and a member of the Academy of Economic Sciences of the Scientific Association of Economists of Serbia.

Jurij Bajec was a project leader and a member of expert teams for preparation of strategic development documents, economic reforms and restructuring programmes in Serbia and, inter alia, a coordinator and co-author of the  "Poverty Reduction Strategy" and “Serbian Post-Crisis Economic Growth and Development Model 2011-2020”. In the period 2008-2012 he was an economic advisor to Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia. Prof. Bajec. participated in numerous international conferences and round tables in England, Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. He is the author of six books and author of numerous articles and other texts of which some are published abroad.
