BYTYQI Fatmir
Deputy Prime Minister, Government of the Republic of North Macedonia
 
 Fatmir Bytyqi was born on October 26, 1975. He graduated in Business Administration, Department of Business Management at the University of Tirana, Albania (1994-1999).
Bytyqi is an international expert in the field of managing economic processes and reforms with over 20 years of experience in over 100 different programs and projects aimed at developing sectors, state institutions, chambers of commerce and companies.
He has conducted over 500 trainings in the Western Balkans and has so far been professionally engaged as a consultant and advisor in several governments, ministries and institutions in the region.
Since 2008 he has been actively involved as an expert on access to and management of EU funds and is considered one of the leading professionals in this field in the region.
His narrow specialty is Strategic Planning and Management of Development, Economic and Business Programmes and he is considered an excellent connoisseur of business opportunities with many years of experience in the real sector as an entrepreneur, consultant and executive manager.
Bytyqi is author of several strategies, bills, manuals and guidelines in the field of finance, economics and business development.
In April 2018 Fatmir Bytyqi has been engaged as a special advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia for conducting research and analysis on policies, strategies and topics related to the economy as well as preparing professional opinions, comments and recommendations. He is a member of the Government's Economic Council and part of the Council for Economic Reform and Sustainable Development, responsible for improving policies in the business environment.
He has been the President of the Finance Committee in SDSM Since August 2019.
Bytyqi actively speaks five languages: Macedonian, Albanian, English, German and Serbian/Croatian.
DPM, Fatmir Bytyqi is engaged in all econimic relations but mainly in the below mentioned projects and activies but not only, such as :
 
  1. National Development Strategy – After more than three decades, North Macedonia will finally adopt a broad (umbrella) national strategy where all sectoral strategies will be streamlined.
  2. State Aid Management Information System – In order to have real-time evidence of all financial and non-financial aid that Macedonian companies are receiving through 14 various institutions based on different laws and bylaws for support of the business sector.
  3. Infrastructure Coordination Unit – With the establishment of this unit, the Government of North Macedonia will increase its capacities for big public infrastructure projects, with special emphasis on coordination between state institutions which was achilles tendon in previous decades.

  12. Energy projects – From January 2022 till the end of August 2023, we have more than 600 PV plants with the capacity of more than 330 MW. With the latest decision of the Government, the Project for building the Dam Chebren will be finally completed, after more than 70 years of planning, feasibility studies and more than 10 unsuccessful open calls for construction.
  13. Law on State Aid – Providing assistance to companies in the manufacturing sector, with subsidies of 10% on capex and additional financial assistance depending on: number of employees, R&D, regional development, other specific characteristics of the investment
