Dragan Markovic was born in Pula. He graduated from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade. He received his MA and PhD at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad. In his career, among other, he held following positions: deputy director of Novi Sad unit at the Serbian Postal Service company and regional director of the insurance company DDOR Novi Sad.

Since 2012,  he is President of the Executive board of insurance company "Triglav osiguranje a.d.o. Beograd".

He published seven author and co-author works in the field of climate change impacts and catastrophic damage and their impact on the insurance market. Mr Markovic is member of the Managing board of the Serbian Basketball Association.
