Head of the IMF Mission to Serbia
Jan Kees Martijn is mission chief for Serbia and chief of the Southeastern Unit in the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), based in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was a division chief in the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department and mission chief for Uruguay and Jamaica, and a senior country reviewer in the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department. At the IMF, he has worked on a range of advanced, emerging, and low-income countries, and on issues including public-private partnerships, international migration and remittances, and the use of aid inflows. Before joining the IMF, he worked as an assistant professor in international economics at the University of Amsterdam, and he holds a PhD in economics from this university.
