Christine Richmond, a Canadian national, has been an economist at the IMF since 2010. From 2010-2017 she worked in the Fiscal Affairs Department and in May 2017 joined the European Department as a desk economist for Serbia. While on leave from the IMF in 2014, she was an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Economics at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Previously she worked at Deutsche Bank as an economist covering Latin America and a consultant for the World Bank Development Research Group. Her research and policy work has focused on sovereign debt, productivity and resource misallocation, firm dynamics, and natural resource revenue management and has been published in Journal of International Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Labour Economics, Journal of Macroeconomics, and Pacific Economic Review. She received her Ph.D. in Management from Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
