Damien Sorrell is a French and British national. He is a qualified lawyer in both France and England & Wales. He holds a Master’s degree in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, an LLB in English law from King’s College London, and a Maîtrise in French law from the Université Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne.

He started his career in the project finance department of Linklaters LLP. Damien has been working at the European Investment Bank (EIB) since May 2010. Until December 2018, he was in-house legal counsel for operations outside the EU and advised the Bank on sovereign, private sector and project finance operations in MENA, Africa and Asia. In January 2019, Damien joined the EIB’s External Action Representation team to open the Bank’s Beirut office before joining the financial inclusion team for the EU neighbourhood as senior loan officer in September 2022.

Damien is the EIB’s Head of Regional Hub for the Western Balkans since 1st September 2024.
