Saša Stevanović was born in 1987 in Vranje, Republic of Serbia. He completed his undergraduate and master’s studies at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade. In 2010, he graduated from the Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Management module. His master's studies were completed with an average grade of 9 (out of 10).
Following his undergraduate studies, he began his career in the City Administration of Vranje, working in the budget sector. This position allowed him to gain fundamental experience in public sector finance and deepen his knowledge of public financial management.
In April 2011, he was appointed Assistant to the President of the Municipality of Trgovište for Budget and Finance, where he was directly involved in budget planning and execution, as well as in conducting analyses to improve the efficiency of public spending. At the end of 2012, he joined the State Audit Institution (SAI), where he obtained his Certified State Auditor designation in 2018. His work at the SAI provided him with a broader understanding of institutional mechanisms for fiscal discipline and control, as well as the importance of transparency in public financial management.
His professional advancement continued at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, where, starting in July 2019, he served as Assistant Minister for Finance. During this period, he was actively involved in the strategic planning of education system financing.
Since 2020, he has held the position of State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, overseeing the Budget Sector, the Sector for Macroeconomic and Fiscal Analyses and Projections, the Budget Inspection Sector, and the Treasury Administration. This role has provided him with direct insight into macroeconomic indicators, fiscal analyses, and strategic budget management processes.
Saša Stevanović is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the "Iskra" project, a unified system for calculating and disbursing salaries for public sector employees. He also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Special Hospital for Nonspecific and Pulmonary Diseases in Sokobanja, a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Development Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Chairman of the Commission for Local Government Financing, and Chairman of the Commission for the Implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards.
He is proficient in English.
