Professor Edita Stokić M.D. graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad in 1986 with a grade point average of 9.96. Being the best student of the generation she has  received the DLV-SLD (Society of Physicians of Vojvodina of the Medical Society of Serbia) Annual Award for  the achieved success, and the SLD (the Medical Society of Serbia) Charter as the best graduate student. She passed the specialist exam in Internal medicine in 1994, and the subspecialist in Endocrinology in 1997, as well as defended her doctoral thessis at the Medical Faculty in Novi Sad in the same year. She has also earned the title of Master in Health Economics in 2019. Hers continuous professional development was conducted in several European endocrinology centers, and in 2004 she received the prestigeous recognition as National Fellow from The Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE) under the International and European Associations for the Study of Obesity project. She is author and co-author of 460 published scientific papers. According to the SCOPUS database, her works have been cited 542 times, and in 2017 her name appeared in the 10 most frequently cited works. She is an single-author and editor of 3 monographs, the author of several chapters in 20 other books, textbooks and monographs, which includes two monographs of international importance. She is a member of the Expert Group for Obesity of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia and the Expert Commission for Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the vice president of the Serbian Association for Obesity. In addition to intensive engagement in scientific institutions in the country, she is also very active internationally. As a leading role or associate one, she is involved in 15 scientific research projects, among which is the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation program Croatia - Serbia 2014-2021, and partecipate,  often as a principal investigator, in 23 clinical studies. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Serbian Archives for all-medicine and the Editorial Board of the Medical Review. In addition to all above mentioned, she is also a member of the Editorial Board of the SM Journal of Food and Nutritional Disorders and the Journal of Obesity and Chronic Diseases.
